☆ Technical Cannibalism started yesterday

This Is but another draft but the Term “Technical Cannibalism” which is coined by myself today should be explained asap and as clear and concise as possible with the aim to reduce the cannibalism which may still be in our genes and yeh, it does lead to the highest technical discoverties and revolutions including obviously the Ai revolution and possible terminal race condition of Ai race to the botton, capitalism outside of any predictable outcomes.

The LLMs and current Ais are not just in a drag race or terminal race condition to win and get to AGI but they are maybe subdue to a technical cannibalism.

☆ Technical Cannibalism could just worsen up the terminal race condition of capitalism and technical capitalism up to unpreceeded and unpredictable outcomes and definetly instead of abundance and hugher life standards for many drag again even more species, not just humans into starvation and extinction.

Technical Cannibalism: How Capitalist Systems Consume Their Own Foundations

The term “cannibalism” evokes visceral imagery of biological self-consumption, but its metaphorical application to capitalism reveals a systemic predation far more insidious. Modern capitalism, driven by profit maximization and exponential growth, increasingly mirrors the logic of biological cannibalism—devouring the very social, ecological, and technological foundations that sustain it. This essay explores how capitalist systems engage in technical cannibalism, leveraging mechanisms akin to self-destructive genes to perpetuate cycles of exploitation, environmental degradation, and social collapse.

Biological Metaphor Meets Economic Reality

In nature, cannibalism occurs when organisms consume members of their own species, often to survive scarcity. Capitalism replicates this dynamic through:

  • Market cannibalism: Companies like Coca-Cola introduce new products (e.g., Coke Zero) to erode their own market share, aiming to dominate broader categories[2].
  • Labor exploitation: Reliance on underpaid, racialized, or coerced labor to sustain profit margins, as seen in historical guano extraction[4] and modern gig economies[6].
  • Resource depletion: Extractive industries “mine” ecosystems faster than regeneration, creating ecological rifts (e.g., soil fertility crises solved by chemical fertilizers that poison waterways)[4].

These processes mirror genetic self-destruction, where short-term survival undermines long-term viability.

Mechanisms of Technical Cannibalism

1. Algorithmic Labor Extraction

Digital platforms like Uber and Amazon exemplify technical cannibalism by:

  • Automating wage suppression: Algorithms optimize worker schedules to minimize labor costs, eroding livable incomes.
  • Data harvesting: User behavior is commodified to fuel targeted advertising, consuming privacy to feed profit cycles.

This mirrors Nancy Fraser’s critique of capitalism’s reliance on “social reproduction” (care work, education) while systematically devaluing it[3][6].

2. Surveillance Capitalism

Tools like Pegasus spyware epitomize cannibalistic logic:

  • Zero-click exploits: Spyware consumes device security to extract data, undermining trust in digital infrastructure.
  • Democratic erosion: Governments weaponize surveillance to silence dissent, corroding the political systems that legitimize capitalist governance[6].

3. Planned Obsolescence

Tech firms like Apple and Samsung deliberately shorten product lifespans to drive consumption, creating e-waste streams that poison ecosystems[7]. This “innovation” cycle consumes finite resources to sustain growth—a hallmark of technical cannibalism.

Nefarious Outcomes

Ecological Collapse

Capitalism’s metabolic rift—divorcing production from ecological limits—has led to:

  • Climate breakdown: Fossil fuel dependence, justified by profit motives, accelerates global warming.
  • Biodiversity loss: Industrial agriculture’s monocultures erode soil health and pollute waterways[4].

Social Fragmentation

  • Precarity: Gig economies replace stable jobs with exploitative contracts, destabilizing communities.
  • Racialized expropriation: Marginalized groups bear the brunt of pollution, displacement, and labor exploitation[6].

Democratic Erosion

Surveillance tools and corporate lobbying concentrate power among elites, hollowing out democratic institutions. The Pegasus Project revealed how governments spy on journalists and activists, stifling dissent[6].

Breaking the Cycle

To counter technical cannibalism, systemic shifts are needed:

  1. Degrowth economics: Prioritize well-being over GDP, reducing resource consumption.
  2. Tech democratization: Mandate open-source algorithms and ban exploitative surveillance.
  3. Just transitions: Redirect subsidies from fossil fuels to renewable energy and care economies.

As Fraser argues, capitalism’s cannibalistic tendencies are not inevitable but rooted in extractive power structures[3][6]. Dismantling these requires recognizing that the system’s “genes” are programmable—and rewriting them is a political choice.

Conclusion
Technical cannibalism reveals capitalism’s fatal flaw: its inability to sustain the conditions it needs to survive. By learning from biology’s lessons on balanced ecosystems, humanity can forge economies that regenerate rather than devour. The alternative—a world consumed by its own hunger for growth—is not just unethical but untenable.
