Invasive Tracking by Meta and Yandex
Meta and Yandex exploited a loophole in Android to track users secretly, bypassing incognito mode, VPNs, and cookie deletions. This technique, known as localhost tracking, allows mobile apps to monitor browser activity on the same device through local ports, linking user actions to real identities without consent. This invasive method could lead to significant legal consequences for Meta, with potential fines up to €32 billion due to regulations like GDPR, DMA, and DSA.
